Tradegrip PVC (SAF60) is a plasticiser resistant polyurethane contact adhesive which is used to provide an excellent adhesion to PVC. The adhesive is highly resistant to plasticiser migration, so is particularly useful for bonding flexible PVC substrates which contain a lot of plasticiser.
Plasticisers are commonly added to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which otherwise is hard and brittle, to make it soft and pliable, which makes it suitable for products such as vinyl flooring, headlining in vehicles, rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), tents & marquees, banners & signage, etc. Adhesives which are unable to resist plasticiser migration will slowly 'leech' plasticiser from the substrates and become soft over time, resulting in a bond failure.
Tradegrip PVC is very useful for many industrial applications where patch repairs are needed to flexible PVC based mateials and will bond a wide variety of other surfaces including
wood
canvas
leather
nylon fabric
polyurethane fabric and foams.
Tradegrip PVC can also be used as a primer/barrier when using other adhesives to bond flexible PVC (for example when bonding un-backed PVC in vehicle headlining) and can be used in conjunction with Tradecure PVC curing agent to form a bond of higher heat resistance, higher resistance to plasticisers and higher durability.
